Diagnostics • Amplification  • Tinnitus • Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs)

Kara Sensenig, M.Ed. joined Delaney Hearing Center in 2025, bringing with her over 35 years of professional experience.  Kara began her audiology career in Richmond, Virginia, where she practiced in both an otolaryngology (ENT) clinic and a private audiology practice, specializing in comprehensive hearing evaluations and hearing aid fitting and management. Her clinical foundation fostered a passion for providing evidence-based care and optimizing hearing technology to achieve the best possible outcomes for each patient.

She later served as Executive Director at Southland Place in Midlothian, Virginia, where she gained valuable experience working with individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. This role strengthened her understanding of the essential connection between hearing, communication, cognitive health, and quality of life, while reinforcing the importance of compassionate, individualized care.

While raising her children, Kara continued serving the community by working part-time with the Department of Education in Birth-to-Pre-K classrooms, where she coached and supported educators working with children receiving special education services, including those on the autism spectrum. This experience further enhanced her appreciation for the diverse communication needs of patients across the lifespan.

After relocating from the Lynchburg area to Charlottesville, Kara has continued caring for patients of all ages with a wide range of hearing concerns. She is especially passionate about the art and science of hearing aid fitting and fine-tuning, using advanced technology and individualized programming to maximize hearing performance and improve everyday communication. Her goal is to help each patient remain actively engaged with family, friends, and the world around them through better hearing.

Kara earned her M.Ed. in Audiology, as well as her Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology from James Madison University.  She is licensed by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (F-AAA), and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Outside of the clinic, Kara enjoys spending time with her children and family, whether boating, skiing, or exploring the outdoors. In her quieter moments, she enjoys gardening, walking, and appreciating nature.
